American actress best remembered for roles in films such as Anatomy of a Murder, Mildred Pierce, Grease, The Strongest Man in the World, My Dream is Yours, Tea For Two, Night and Day, Whiplash, Comrade X and TV series such as Our Miss Brooks, The Mothers-In-Law and Love Boat.
In a 1952 publication it mentioned "Her imposing stature of five feet seven inches has caused her on occasion to adopt a slumping stance", although Eve herself once said "Bette [Davis] is about Five Feet Two and I am Five Feet Eight, so we couldn't hear each other well enough to stay in the same key, but the audience loved us anyway."
As we got to know them, I began to realize what a complex Alan [Ladd] had about his height. He was extremely handsome and very sweet, but visiting there was a little like playing musical chairs. Since Brooks is six feet two and I am five feet eight and a half, Alan, five feet six, never approached the car when we arrived, but stood above at the door to the house.
